An Ethereal Liberty Dream: Miranda and Bret’s Wedding at Villa Eva
AMAZINGNESS AND BEAUTY IN RAVELLO
Unearth the allure of Villa Eva Ravello wedding, where Emiliano’s photography weaves eternal love stories. Every snapshot tells a unique love tale.

Our team is ready to frame the beginning of your journey.
There is a moment in every wedding photographer’s career when the location, the light, and the couple’s energy align so perfectly that the job ceases to feel like work and becomes pure creative flow. My experience with Miranda and Bret at Villa Eva was exactly this.
As an American couple coming to the Amalfi Coast, Miranda and Bret brought with them a specific kind of enthusiasm—a desire not just to see Italy, but to feel it. They didn’t want a stiff, formal event. They wanted a garden party suspended in the sky, a celebration that felt both elegant and effortlessly loose. For this vision, there is no better stage in Ravello than Villa Eva.
While many venues in Ravello are hotels where you must share space with other guests, Villa Eva is a private sanctuary. It is an exclusive-use venue, meaning that for one day, this Liberty-style jewel and its 3,000 square meters of parkland belonged entirely to Miranda, Bret, and their loved ones.
This exclusivity changes the atmosphere completely. It allows me, as their wedding photographer in Ravello, to move freely, to capture the unscripted laughter without dodging tourists, and to find those quiet, hidden corners where the light falls just right.
This story is about how we used the unique architecture of Villa Eva to frame their American romance, and why this venue remains one of my absolute favorites to photograph.
The Liberty Style Canvas
Most people associate Ravello with medieval stone and Romanesque arches. Villa Eva offers something refreshing: the “Liberty” style (Italian Art Nouveau). The architecture here is softer, characterized by sinuous lines, floral motifs, and a sense of lightness that is rare in older buildings.
For Miranda and Bret’s photos, this architectural style provided a romantic, almost whimsical backdrop. The villa doesn’t impose itself on the couple; it embraces them. The pastel tones of the façade—soft ochres and creams—act as natural reflectors. Even under the bright midday sun, the light bouncing off the villa walls wrapped Miranda’s skin in a soft, flattering glow, avoiding the harsh contrast we sometimes fight against in other locations.
Inside, the large glass windows dissolve the barrier between the indoors and the lush outdoors. This transparency is a gift for a photographer. I could shoot from the garden looking in, capturing Miranda adjusting her veil in the reflection of the glass, or from the inside looking out at Bret waiting in the garden, framed by the elegant ironwork of the windows.
A Ceremony in the Clouds
One of the reasons I love working at Villa Eva is its position. It sits at the very highest point of Ravello. While other venues cling to the cliffside, Villa Eva sits on top of it. This offers a 360-degree view that is simply unmatched.
Miranda and Bret chose to have their ceremony in the garden, under the shade of the centenary parasol pines. The light here is magical. It filters through the canopy of needles, creating a dappled, soft-green ambience that feels like a secret garden.
As Miranda walked down the aisle, the silence of the venue was profound. Because we were so high up and surrounded by dense vegetation, the noise of the town disappeared. The only sounds were the wind in the trees and the distant hum of the sea far below. Capturing Bret’s reaction—that mix of awe and pure joy—was effortless because the setting allowed him to be completely present.
He wasn’t performing for a crowd; he was just looking at the woman he loved in a place that felt like the edge of the world.
The “Golden Hour” on the Roof
After the ceremony, while the guests moved to the “Kiosk” area for the aperitif, I stole the couple away for their portrait session. This is where having a good wedding planner in Ravello who understands the flow of photography is crucial. We had timed this perfectly to coincide with the “Golden Hour.”
At Villa Eva, the Golden Hour lasts longer than anywhere else in Ravello because of the elevation. We climbed to the roof terrace. From here, you don’t just see the sea; you see the curvature of the coast, the Lattari mountains, and the endless horizon.
I asked Miranda and Bret to stand by the balustrade. The wind is always present up here, and it became a third subject in the photos, catching Miranda’s veil and creating dynamic movement in every shot. I didn’t need to direct them much. I simply told them to look at the view and then at each other. The sheer scale of the landscape evokes a natural reaction of wonder. My job was simply to frame that wonder against the deep blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The Dinner Under the Stars
The reception moved to the permanent marquee. This structure is brilliant because it provides safety from the elements without sacrificing the view. The sides are open, allowing the sea breeze to flow through.
For the dinner, Miranda and Bret opted for a layout that encouraged conversation—long imperial tables rather than isolated rounds. The lighting design was key here. As the sun set, the marquee was illuminated by strings of fairy lights and chandeliers.
I switched to my fastest lenses (f/1.2) to capture the atmosphere without using flash, preserving the warmth of the candles and the twilight sky. The photos of the speeches are some of my favorites from the day. You can see the genuine connection between the guests, the tears of laughter, and the way the golden light of the chandeliers reflected in the wine glasses. It felt less like a formal banquet and more like a massive, joyous family dinner.
Why I Feel at Home at Villa Eva
I often tell my clients that the vibe of the venue dictates the vibe of the photos. At Villa Eva, I feel a sense of freedom. The staff is incredible—they operate with a quiet efficiency that never interrupts the flow of the event. They know me, and I know them.
With Miranda and Bret, this comfort level allowed me to get close. I wasn’t a stranger with a camera; I was part of the group. I could get right into the middle of the dance floor during the party (which went late into the night, thanks to the soundproof indoor hall—a rarity in Ravello!).
I captured the sweaty, messy, glorious chaos of the party with a wide-angle lens, showing not just the people but the energy of the room.
A Legacy of Joy
Miranda and Bret’s wedding in Ravello was a reminder of why I do this. It wasn’t just about the stunning dress or the perfect flowers (though both were exquisite).
Villa Eva provided the canvas—the Liberty elegance, the towering pines, the infinite view. But Miranda and Bret provided the color. Their American warmth, their unreserved emotion, and their trust in me allowed us to create a visual legacy that is as timeless as Ravello itself.
To Miranda and Bret: thank you. Thank you for climbing to the roof with me, for trusting the wind, and for reminding me that the best photos aren’t posed—they are lived.
