We’re talking about castles like Castello di Verrazzano, which dates back to the Renaissance and produces some of the most respected wines in the world.   

The light in Chianti is special. It’s filtered through the trees and the hills, creating a soft, romantic glow in the late afternoon. For me, as a photographer, Chianti offers endless variety. One minute we’re in an ancient cellar with stone walls and flickering candles, and the next we’re on a terrace overlooking a sea of green vines.

The Minimalist Magic of Val d’Orcia

If Chianti is a lush painting, Val d’Orcia is a minimalist masterpiece. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site for a reason. The hills are smoother, the views are wider, and there’s a sense of peace here that is hard to find anywhere else. This is the land of Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most prestigious wines in the world.

Lately, more of my American couples are looking toward the coast. Bolgheri is the “rockstar” region of Tuscany. It’s where the Super Tuscans were born—bold, innovative wines that broke all the rules. Timing is everything. In the world of wine, the season doesn’t just change the weather; it changes the entire look and feel of the venue.   

Spring: The Green Rebirth

From April to June, Tuscany is waking up. The vineyards are a vibrant, neon green, and the fields are full of red poppies. The weather is usually perfect—warm enough for an outdoor ceremony but not so hot that everyone is melting. For photography, spring light is crisp and clear, making all those colors pop.   

Summer: The Golden Glow

July and August are when you get those iconic, long, golden days. The sun stays up late, giving us plenty of time for portraits during the “golden hour”. Just be careful—it can get very hot. I always tell my couples to plan for plenty of shade and maybe some refreshing white wine spritzes for the guests as they arrive.   

Fall: The Harvest (Vendemmia)

September and October are my personal favorite months. This is the time of the “Vendemmia,” the grape harvest. The air is cooler, the grapes are heavy on the vines, and the colors shift from green to deep golds and bronzes. There’s an energy in the air during harvest time that you can’t describe—it’s a celebration of the whole year’s work. Plus, the light is softer and more diffused, which is a dream for skin tones in photos.

I use a specific editing style and lighting technique to neutralize those green tones, making sure your skin looks creamy and natural while keeping the vines looking vibrant and healthy.

I hate stiff, boring poses. You’re not a statue, and this is the happiest day of your life. I prefer to give you actions—walk through the vines, whisper something funny to each other, share a glass of wine. This helps you forget the camera is there, and that’s when the real magic happens.

In a wine-centric wedding, the food and the wine are partners. You don’t just pick a dish and then find a wine to match; you think about the whole experience as a journey through the flavors of Tuscany.

Tuscan food is simple, honest, and incredibly high quality. For your reception, we want to highlight that. Think about serving local Pecorino cheeses with honey, or handmade Pici pasta with a rich wild boar ragù. These bold flavors need a wine with backbone, like a Chianti Classico Riserva or a structured Brunello.   

If you’re having a summer wedding, a refreshing Vermentino or a crisp Rosé is perfect for the aperitivo hour. And for the main course, nothing beats a Chianina beef filet paired with a Super Tuscan from Bolgheri.

There is something incredibly romantic about a single, long wooden table stretching through a vineyard or under a canopy of fairy lights. This is a luxury relais that perfectly captures the “country-chic” vibe. It’s a restored hamlet that offers comfortable rooms for your guests and a beautiful terrace for the reception. The gardens are full of olive trees and vineyards, providing a versatile space for every part of your day.
