Ravello Wedding Cost: A Real Budget Breakdown

A couple from San Francisco asked me, before they had even decided on Ravello, for a real number. Not a range. A number. I told them what I tell everyone at this stage: there is no single figure that means anything without knowing what it buys. What I can give them instead is a breakdown specific enough that they understand exactly where the money goes. That, in my experience, is more useful than a headline number that gives the appearance of precision but tells you nothing about the structure beneath it.

This is that breakdown. It covers what each vendor category costs in Ravello, based on the pricing I see across the weddings I photograph and coordinate here. Numbers reflect 2026 pricing. The structure stays consistent year to year, though individual figures shift slightly with inflation and seasonal demand.

The Three Things That Drive the Total

Every Ravello wedding budget is shaped by three variables: which venue you choose, how many guests you invite, and how much production you want.

Venue choice matters more here than in most destinations because the five main properties have fundamentally different cost structures. Villa Cimbrone requires a hotel buyout for most large weddings, which costs 65,000 euros before a single guest sits down to dinner. Palazzo Confalone has no hotel attached, which makes it the most accessible option at the lower end. The venue you choose defines the floor of your budget, and that floor varies by a factor of three or four depending on which door you walk through.

Guest count drives catering cost, typically the largest line item after the venue. Catering in Ravello runs 300 to 410 euros per person at the major venues. With 30 guests that is 9,000 to 12,000 euros for dinner. With 100 guests, the same line item is 30,000 to 41,000 euros before wine.

Production is the variable with the widest spread. Two couples at the same venue, with the same guest count, can spend 60,000 or 160,000 euros. The difference is whether they want a string quartet or a twelve-piece band, seasonal wildflowers arranged simply or a custom floral arch that takes a team two days to build, ambient lighting or a full production design. Every one of those choices is legitimate. They just cost differently.

Venue Fees: What Each Property Actually Costs

Ravello has five main wedding venues. Their cost structures are different enough that comparing them means looking at the specific spaces behind each headline number.

At Villa Cimbrone, space access fees run approximately 8,500 euros for the Terrace of Infinity and 6,500 euros for the Crypt, both including VAT. These are rental fees for the spaces before catering. The two-night hotel buyout, which gives exclusive use of all 19 rooms and is the standard arrangement for most weddings above 38 guests, costs approximately 65,000 euros. Catering starts at 300 euros per person for a four-course dinner, with wine adding 40 to 80 euros per person on top. For a wedding of 80 to 100 guests following the standard flow (ceremony in the Rose Garden, aperitivo on the Terrace, dinner in the Crypt), the venue cost alone lands between 120,000 and 160,000 euros. With photography, florals, music, and planner included, a complete Cimbrone wedding typically runs 200,000 to 280,000 euros.

At Belmond Hotel Caruso, the Wagner Gardens rental is approximately 3,050 euros including VAT. Adding a symbolic ceremony under the olive trees costs around 1,830 euros. The pool grill, used by most couples for the after-dinner party, is about 4,880 euros. These space fees are the same whether you have 30 guests or 90. Catering runs from 330 euros per person for the entry-level menu to 407 euros per person at the top tier. Wine packages add 38 to 72 euros per person. A minimum reservation of eight rooms is required to access the gardens at all.

Palazzo Avino sits at a price point roughly 20 to 40 percent below a comparable Caruso event, primarily because the hotel is smaller (43 rooms against 50) and the maximum dinner capacity is 70 guests. The Michelin kitchen means per-person catering cost is comparable to the Caruso, but you avoid the buyout scale. For intimate luxury events between 30 and 70 guests, Avino often represents better value than either Cimbrone or Caruso without any visible compromise on quality.

Villa Eva has no hotel attached, which removes the buyout from the equation entirely. For 60 to 80 guests with full catering, DJ, florals, photography, and planner coordination, total budgets at Villa Eva land between 60,000 and 100,000 euros. For 40 to 50 guests, between 40,000 and 70,000. Those figures are lower than Cimbrone or Caruso at comparable guest counts because the cost structure is different, not because the quality of the day is. The venue also has something no other property in Ravello offers: a soundproofed indoor hall where the party can run past midnight without a curfew.

At Palazzo Confalone, the entry costs are the lowest in Ravello. The property has 10 rooms on site, a private stone courtyard, and a panoramic terrace that catches the afternoon sun from late spring through autumn. For elopements and micro weddings up to around 50 guests, it is the venue I recommend first when budget is a constraint.

Catering: The Variable Nobody Calculates Correctly

At the hotel venues (Cimbrone, Caruso, Avino), catering is handled in-house. You choose from a fixed set of menus and the venue manages everything from kitchen to service. Four-course plated dinner with aperitivo hour, wedding cake, and coffee runs 300 to 410 euros per person. Wine during dinner is charged separately by consumption or as a package, typically adding 40 to 80 euros per person. An open bar for the after-dinner portion adds 38 to 50 euros per person per hour depending on whether you want the standard selection or the premium one.

At Villa Eva and Palazzo Confalone, external caterers handle the food. You have more flexibility in menu design and sometimes in price, typically 150 to 300 euros per person depending on the caterer and what you order. Confirm with the venue which caterers are on the approved list, since that changes year to year.

The line item that catches most couples by surprise is the second event. A welcome dinner the night before or a morning-after brunch at one of the hotel venues adds 150 to 250 euros per person. With 60 guests, that is an additional 9,000 to 15,000 euros on top of the wedding day catering bill. Budget for it from the start.

Photography and Video

Full-day photography coverage in Ravello from a photographer with real experience at these venues runs from around 3,000 euros at the lower market end to 8,000 euros and above for photographers who work exclusively at this level of destination event. Video coverage is a separate line item. A two-person team covering the full day, editing a short highlight film and a longer documentary cut, runs from 3,500 to 7,000 euros depending on the team and the deliverables. Some couples skip video and put that budget into photography or florals. Others treat it as non-negotiable. There is no right answer.

Florals

Ravello’s florists work under conditions that affect both what is possible and what it costs. The town is pedestrian above the main road, which means everything arrives by hand or on small carts. A large installation that would be a routine delivery at a venue accessible by van becomes a half-day setup operation here. This matters when you are pricing from a florist who has never worked in Ravello.

I coordinate regularly with the florists who know the terrain. Based on what I see consistently across the events I photograph and help plan:

• Bridal bouquet: 300 to 600 euros depending on flower choice and complexity
• Ceremony florals (simple arrangements, aisle markers, basic arch): 2,000 to 5,000 euros
• Per-table dinner centerpiece: 150 to 350 euros per table
• Full florals for ceremony and dinner at medium scale: 6,000 to 15,000 euros
• Large custom installations (oversized arches, hanging arrangements, statement pieces): 15,000 euros and above

Seasonal and locally available flowers cost significantly less than imported ones. Bougainvillea and wisteria growing on the property are essentially free in spring. Roses, peonies, and dahlias are manageable in their peak months. Flying in varieties that are out of season or that do not grow on the coast adds cost quickly and is not always worth it when what is growing 30 meters away is extraordinary. Music: Ceremony and Reception Are Different Categories

Ceremony music and reception music have different costs, different logistics, and different considerations in Ravello.

For the ceremony, the standard formats are a string quartet (850 to 1,400 euros for a 45-to-60-minute ceremony), a solo musician such as a classical guitarist or harpist (400 to 700 euros), or a solo vocalist with piano accompaniment (600 to 1,000 euros). In Ravello’s open-air garden spaces, the acoustics respond well to strings and voice in a way they do not at sea-level venues where wind competes with the sound. Vows carry clearly in a stone courtyard without microphones. I prefer live music for ceremonies here over recorded playlists for exactly that reason.

For the reception, the main options are a DJ (1,500 to 3,500 euros), a small live band of three to five pieces (4,000 to 7,000 euros), or a larger band above six musicians (7,000 to 15,000 euros and above). The venue you choose affects this decision directly.

Villa Eva has a soundproofed indoor hall with no music curfew. The party can run until 2 AM or later without a noise complaint. Every other main venue in Ravello operates under noise restrictions that end amplified music between 11 PM and midnight, sometimes at 11 PM sharp depending on the property and the season. If late-night dancing is a priority, Villa Eva is the only venue in Ravello where that is structurally possible. At Palazzo Confalone the dinner party ends around midnight. At Hotel Caruso and Palazzo Avino, the gardens require quiet by 11 PM. Know this before you commit to a venue.

Planner Coordination

A full planning service in Ravello typically runs either 10 to 15 percent of the total budget or a fixed fee of 4,000 to 8,000 euros for full coordination from venue contracts through wedding day. Day-of coordination alone, without the months of vendor management, runs 1,500 to 3,000 euros.

For a wedding in this town, I think full coordination is worth the cost. Ravello’s terrain, the pedestrian-only access above the main road, the logistics of moving guests from hotels scattered across the coast, and the number of moving parts between a reception at 365 meters above sea level and guests arriving from Positano or Amalfi: these are coordination problems that do not solve themselves. The Costs That Appear Late and Surprise People

Transfers. Ravello has no train connection and limited parking near the venues. Guests arrive from Naples airport (roughly 75 minutes by car), from Positano (45 minutes), or from Amalfi (20 minutes). A private minibus from Naples airport runs 200 to 300 euros per vehicle. Coordinating round-trip transfers for 40 guests on the wedding day, across two or three vehicles and multiple pickup times, adds 800 to 1,500 euros. The number grows with guest count and how spread out your accommodations are.

Hair and makeup. A bridal trial and wedding-day styling runs 500 to 900 euros for the bride. Additional attendants are 200 to 350 euros each. Teams come to the venue for the getting-ready coverage. Most of the main properties have good morning light in the suite areas, which I plan the getting-ready schedule around.

Celebrant or officiant. For a symbolic ceremony, a professional Italian celebrant working in English charges 800 to 1,500 euros. For a civil ceremony at the Ravello Town Hall, budget 500 to 1,500 euros for the municipal fees plus the cost of obtaining the required documents in the US (apostilled birth certificates, Nulla Osta from the US consulate). Accommodation. Ravello’s hotels are not budget options. Rooms at Villa Cimbrone and Palazzo Avino start at 350 to 500 euros per night in high season. Smaller boutique properties in town run 150 to 300 euros per night. If you are coordinating a room block for guests, budget this separately from the venue costs from the start, because it adds up faster than most couples anticipate.

How Season Changes the Numbers

May, June, and September are peak months. Venue availability is tightest, and some properties apply supplements to catering and space fees. October through April sees rates drop across most venues, typically 15 to 30 percent for both venue access and catering at the hotel properties. Florals in autumn and early spring also benefit from lower costs on seasonal material.

A wedding in October at the same venue with the same guest count can cost 15,000 to 30,000 euros less than an identical event in June. The trade-off is shorter daylight (sunset by 6 PM in late October versus 8 PM in June) and a higher probability of rain. October light in Ravello is genuinely excellent for photography: warmer, more directional, and without the harsh midday shadows of high summer. But a Plan B for outdoor ceremonies is not optional.

What the Venue You Pick Actually Buys

To make the numbers concrete, here is what three common budget bands actually produce in Ravello.

• 40,000 to 65,000 euros. Palazzo Confalone or Villa Eva, 30 to 50 guests, seasonal florals arranged simply, live ceremony quartet, DJ for the evening, full-day photography, planner coordination. A complete wedding with professional vendors at every level. This is the entry point for a properly planned event in Ravello, not a cut-rate option.
• 80,000 to 120,000 euros. Belmond Hotel Caruso or Palazzo Avino, 50 to 80 guests, custom florals for ceremony and tables, live band or DJ, photography and video, full coordination. Most couples in this range add a welcome dinner the night before. The result has the full texture of a luxury destination wedding without Cimbrone’s buyout costs.
• 180,000 euros and above. Villa Cimbrone, 80 to 120 guests with two-night buyout, large floral installations, live band, full production including lighting design, photography and video, full planning service, welcome dinner, and morning-after brunch. At this level the vendor team runs 15 to 20 people and the planning timeline is 12 to 18 months minimum.

Questions Couples Ask Before Signing With a Venue
